have a quick RANK?

THE RETROSPECTIVE 22 years of Rankin So I did not really know what to expect of the Rankin Live exhibition as I was walking down Brick Lane and it sure did not fail to disappoint. I had never visited Old Truman Brewary before and wow its one hell of an exhibition space... LOVE IT. Rankin's exhibition was everything an exhibition should be powerful, bold and shocking. His retrospective of his past 22 years was interesting as I have ever only seen his more recent work I like to see the progression of peoples work throughout their life. Highlights of the retrospective included a UV lit part of the gallery filled with black and white portraits of women, the effect almost made the photographs come alive. My favourite photo is pictured below it is just exquisite.

SHOOT 45 17.08.09

ON THE 28.08.08 RANKIN BEGAN A JOURNEY TO TAKE 1500 PORTRAITS OF MEMBERS OF THE GREAT BRITISH PUBLIC IN DOING SO HE HOPED TO CHALLENGE PEOPLES PERCEPTIONS BUT TO ALSO RAISE MONEY AS EACH PERSON PARTICIPATING IN RANKIN LIVE IS ASKED TO DONATE £50. IN 2008 RANKIN TRAVELLED TO THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO TO HIGHLIGHT THE FORGOTTON CONFLICT IN THE COUNTRY, SO ALL PROCEEDS FROM RANKIN LIVE GO DIRECTLY TO OXFAM.
....THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY DAY WAS THE FACT THAT RANKIN WAS IN THE BREWARY SHOOTING THIS WAS A MORE INSIGHTFUL EXPERIENCE THAN JUST LOOKING AT THE EXHIBITION. I WAS ABLE TO SEE THE AMOUNT OF TIME THAT GOES INTO CREATING ONE SHOT AND WAS ABLE TO COMPARE THIS TO MY OWN EXPERIENCES IN THE FIELD OF STYLING. BELOW IS THE FINAL PHOTOGRAPH CHOSEN. IT IS INTERESTING THAT IT IS PORTRAIT BECAUSE RANKIN SPENT A LOT OF TIME TAKING CLOSE UP LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHS OF HER FACE, BUT I THINK THIS ONE IS A LOT MORE BEAUTIFUL.
